STALINGRAD
Angelo Badalamenti, 2013, MovieScore Media
18 tracks, 52:41
It is unfortunate, but war has inspired some of the best films and soundtracks. The sweeping score for “Stalingrad” by Angelo Badalamenti being an excellent example.
Steven Price’s “Gravity” took home the Academy Award for Best Original score. He beat John Williams’s “The Book Thief“, Thomas Newman’s “Saving Mr Banks“, Alexandre Desplat’s “Philomena” and Arcade Fire’s “Her” to the race. Price was seen shaking Williams’ and Newman’s hand, before humbling accepting the award. Earlier this year Price also won Best Action/Adventure/Sci Fi score in the, much less coveted, Synchrotones’ Soundtrack Awards. So, needless to say I’m happy to see him come out on top at the Oscars. The Oscar for Best Original Song went to “Frozen’s” “Let It Go”, by Robert Lopez and Kristin Anderson-Lopez.
