Steven Price’s latest score is for the thriller “Beast“, in which Idris Elba and others have to escape from a beast (spoiler alert: it’s a lion). A quick glance at director Baltasar Kormakur reveals he likes to makes movies about people escaping from all sorts of peril, such as the ocean (“Adrift“), a mountain (“Everest“), another ocean (“The Deep“) and so on. He also seems to favour short titles; as well as working with many different composers from Clinton Shorter to James Newton Howard to Hildur Gotnadottir and Dario Marianelli.

“More Than Robots” is a documentary about a bunch of geeky kids (I think I can say this, as I’m quite geeky myself) from around the world that come together to build robots and, in the process, learn that to life more than robots there is! The original score is by Stephanie Economou and is conceived using musical robots, i.e. synthesizers and other electronic gizmos. Stephanie, in case you don’t know yet, works a lot with Harry Gregson-Williams, and “More Than Robots” has quite a HGW vibe going on. Read more…JHFM have organised an amazing looking concert with music from James Horner, including (almost) never before heard works Spectral Shimmers and A Forest Passage; as well as a unique documentary featuring Horner’s wife and daughter. It will take place on 13th May in Szczecin, Poland with the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with conductor Torodd Wigum. It will also be streamed live on YouTube.
